"Arranging a bowl of flowers in the morning can give a sense of quiet in a crowded day - like writing a poem or saying a prayer."-----Anne Morrow Lindbergh
Author's note: My Mother always loved Christmas Cactus. I don't know where she learned of them, but for years there always were a few plants outside the window in the back of our house. And sure enough, the plants would prolifically bloom near Christmas as though they were a beacon announcing, in their fantastically beautiful colored flowers, that Christmas was near! I have raised them for years myself, and currently have several plants outside in our mild climate, having bloomed wonderfully last Christmas. It is as though the plants are gaining strength and growing for their brilliant display next December! Although this year, 2006 they are all blooming now in late October, perhaps to announce Thanksgiving is coming soon!! People are continually amazed at the beauty of the plant and its flowers. "The best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life."----Robert Louis Stevenson
